The people of East Devon are doing very well at recycling. In a bit over a year, we’ve gone from among the worst areas in Britain for recycling to being in the top ten, which is amazing.
How has this been done? By starting a plastics recycling scheme and a garden waste collection. Both of these used to go to landfill, apart from the garden waste from householders who had signed up to Otter Rotters, until that organisation folded.
Since the introduction of the green bag alongside the box, a lot of things have changed. I’ll try to give a run down of them in the following posts.
